Twitter accused Ukrainian President Zelensky of falsifying history

Ukrainian President Zelensky has been accused of falsifying history on Twitter Vladimir Zelensky

On the social network Twitter, users criticize President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky for postponing the celebration of Victory Day to May 8.

In his microblog, Zelensky wrote that he had submitted a bill to the Ukrainian Parliament, which proposed declaring May 8 the Day of Remembrance and Victory over Nazism in World War II 1939-1945. «Glory to everyone who fought against Nazism and won!» Zelensky added.

This publication caused a negative reaction from the readers of his microblog.

In particular, Ukrainian director Igor Lopatenok noted that it «does not say a word about the role of the Red Army or the Soviet Union.»

He turned to Zelensky: «You are on the wrong side of history and now you are setting Nazism on Ukraine". The director also wrote: «We celebrate this holiday on May 9, not the eighth, and we never did.»

Other readers called Zelensky himself a Nazi, called him a coward, a traitor.

«My name is Zelensky, and I'm falsifying history,» a user with the nickname Tikhon mocked.

Zelensky's decree, published on the website of his office, notes that the decision to establish May 9 in Ukraine «In the afternoon Europe», adopted, among other things, to «strengthen the unity of the peoples of Europe» and «ensuring peace, security and stability on the European continent».

Since 2015, Ukraine has celebrated the Day of Remembrance and Reconciliation on May 8, in fact, this means that the country has joined the tradition of celebrating the victory over Nazi Germany, following the model Western European countries.
