MOSCOW, May 10. Russia shipped 73,000 tons of diesel fuel to Chile in April, Reuters reported, citing data from the analytical company Refinitiv Eikon.
«Russia has begun exporting diesel fuel to Chile… According to Refinitiv, two tankers loaded with approximately 73,000 tons of diesel fuel were loaded in the Russian Baltic port of Primorsk in April and headed for the port of Guayacan in Chile,» Reuters writes.
According to Refinitiv data cited by the agency, Russia supplied about 1.5 million tons of fuel to Latin America in January-April against 211,000 tons exported to the region over the entire past year. Since the beginning of the year, the bulk of Russian diesel fuel exports went to Brazil.
Western oil sanctions against Russia came into force on December 5, 2022: the European Union stopped accepting Russian oil transported by sea, and the G7 countries, Australia and the EU introduced a restriction prices for it in maritime transportation at the level of $60 per barrel — it is forbidden to transport and insure more expensive oil. Russia, in response, banned from February 1 the supply of oil to foreign entities, if the contracts directly or indirectly provide for the use of the price cap mechanism.
