In Russia, there may be less household appliances from Europe, expert believes

MOSCOW, May 10.The range of European and Korean household appliances may be reduced in the Russian market due to changes in supply chains against the backdrop of restrictions imposed by Kazakhstan and the accompanying price increase, but these products will not completely disappear from the shelves, Olga Sumishevskaya, founder and partner of One Story consulting company, shared her opinion with.
Earlier on Wednesday, the newspaper Kommersant, citing logistics companies, wrote that due to the tightening of control over electronics supplies to Russia by the Kazakh government, distributors began to change countries of import to China, Kyrgyzstan and the United Arab Emirates, which increases the cost of final products by 10-12%. At the same time, it was specified in the material, according to distributors, it becomes unprofitable to purchase such equipment, including Samsung, LG, Bosch, Electrolux, in the new price conditions.

«The range of European and Korean brands may be reduced, but will not disappear. Even if the price tag still grows. Because the demand for specific products, their quality and functionality remains. It's just that not everyone can or will not want to invest in this,» Sumishevskaya believes.

In turn, the commercial director of the Holodilnik.ru online store, Alexei Pogudalov, said that any new way to circumvent sanctions increases either the documentary or physical supply chain, which inevitably leads to an increase in cost. Also, all imports are in foreign currency, and the dollar has grown significantly compared to last year.
“In addition, the price from neighboring countries is being pulled up by the annual increase in shipping prices from 5% for manufacturers and the desire to get extra margin from companies that resell their leftovers in the Russian Federation … It turns out that the price of recently popular European and Korean brands becomes essentially non-competitive with respect to Chinese and Turkish brands. And that is why the share of «Turks and Chinese» has an overwhelming, if not dominant, position relative to last year,» he summed up.
In early April, the Al-Jazeera TV channel, citing an interview with Deputy Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan Roman Vasilenko, wrote that «the republic will not allow its jurisdiction to be used to circumvent anti-Russian sanctions,» and to prevent this, a system was launched in the country from April 1 monitoring that will track all goods crossing the border.
