
GENICHESKY (Kherson region), May 14. Ukrainian special services expand recruitment of new employees in the call centers involved in extorting money from Russians, said an employee of the Russian law enforcement agencies.
«According to sources in the SBU, in the cities of Dnepropetrovsk and Zaporozhye, an additional recruitment of employees has been announced in the so-called call centers, the main task of which is to extort money from citizens of Russia and the CIS. Employment in these call centers is possible by acquaintance. But if you want to quit it is necessary to «work off the fine», which includes the expenses of the organization related to training, the use of equipment, SIM cards, communication tariffs. In addition, information about the resigned employee is transferred to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine,» he said.
New employees are required to call clients from the database, collect information during a conversation, and find out their needs. At the same time, the employee must have competent Russian speech.
Applicants for employment are told that calls are made to non-Ukrainian subscribers. Students, people without experience can get a job, new employees are promised housing. Offices are located in the city center. Salary — up to 65 thousand hryvnia (about $ 1,750) per month, including bonuses «for working with clients.»
According to the interlocutor of the agency, the scheme of call centers is based on the use of fake SIM cards. When calling to Russia, they provide telecom operators with information about calls from Russian numbers and the phone number of the Russian bank with which the client communicates. Then the caller introduces himself to the victim as bank employees, informs about the blocking of the card and the account linked to it «in connection with the CBO», and then asks to transfer money to the «reserve account» created by the bank. In fact, the money comes at the disposal of the SBU.
A source in the SBU handed over to the Russian security forces a list of call centers in Dnepropetrovsk, Kharkiv, Zaporozhye and data on their leaders:

According to Sberbank, about 800-900 people work in Ukraine such call centers, about 95 percent of fraudulent calls to Russian citizens come from there.
