A court in the Moscow Region has arrested a police officer who is accused of violating traffic rules while intoxicated, involving leaving the scene of an accident (paragraphs «a» and «b» of Part 2 of Article 264 of the Criminal Code). This was reported by the regional prosecutor's office.
An employee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs asked him to choose a milder measure of restraint, not related to deprivation of liberty. “He fully admitted his guilt in the deed,” the department added.
According to investigators, on the evening of May 11, a policeman was driving around the city of Mytitsi in a Kia Rio car in a state of intoxication and, without slowing down in front of an unregulated pedestrian crossing, knocked down a girl born in 2006. The victim was hospitalized with injuries of varying severity.
Without waiting for the doctors, the police officer fled the scene of the accident.
