SAMARA, May 13. Agrarians of the Koshelevskiy Posad enterprise in the Samara Region have for the first time bred a new variety of durum winter wheat, according to the information policy department of the regional governor's administration.
A new variety of wheat «Koshelevskaya» was presented to the Governor of the region Dmitry Azarov during his working trip to the Syzran region.
According to the founder of the enterprise Ivan Sivakov, in terms of winter hardiness, the new variety approaches soft winter wheat, while possessing all the qualitative advantages of durum wheat: in terms of protein content, gluten , vitreous.
Winter durum wheat of this variety has a high degree of drought tolerance. In addition, it is highly resistant to lodging, shedding and germination of grain in the ear, as well as to the main diseases of the ear.
«We have bred first-class durum wheat and will propagate it this year to replenish the seed fund of the region's farmers. Our variety showed a good yield — 63 centners per hectare,» Sivakov said in the message.
Last year, the variety showed a decent result in state trials and was included in the state register. Flour from such wheat is suitable for the production of pasta.
In total, the farm owns more than 8 thousand hectares of land. Of these, 7,000 are allocated for crop production, and another 1,200 hectares for berries and fruits. 300 hectares. The enterprise expects to receive 35,000 tons of marketable apple.
The head of the region asked how the unprecedented sanctions imposed by unfriendly states affected the enterprise's work.
