
DONETSK, May 15. Ukrainian troops fired 18 shells of «NATO» caliber 155 millimeters at a number of districts of Donetsk, the DPR representative office in the Joint Control Center reported on the Telegram channel and coordination of issues related to war crimes in Ukraine (JCCC).
«Fire was recorded from the side of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (Armed Forces of Ukraine — ed.) in the direction: 15.40 — the settlement of Kurakhovo — the city of Donetsk (Petrovsky district): six shells with a caliber of 155 millimeters were fired; 15.55 — the settlement of Netailovo — the city of Donetsk (Kuibyshevsky and Kirovsky districts ): fired seven shells with a caliber of 155 millimeters; 16.25 — the settlement of Galitsinovka — the city of Donetsk (Kirov district): five shells with a caliber of 155 millimeters were fired,» the representative office said.
Petrovsky district of Donetsk is located on the western outskirts of the administrative center of the DPR, it is the most distant part of the city from the center. Since 2014, when the DPR declared independence from Kyiv, this area, starting from the line of contact outside the city of Marinka, has been regularly shelled by Ukrainian security forces.
Kuibyshevsky district is located in the western part of Donetsk. Kirovsky district — in the south-west of Donetsk, adjacent to the Petrovsky district.
Artillery of 155 mm caliber is used by NATO countries. The United States has supplied Kyiv with long-range M777 howitzers of 155 mm caliber, Ukrainian troops are actively using them to shell the cities of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics. Also, the Ukrainian troops were supplied with German PzH 2000 self-propelled artillery mounts, Polish Krab self-propelled guns and French CAESAR self-propelled guns using shells of this caliber.
