Dynamo Moscow fired Slavisa Jokanovic from the post of chief coach after a home defeat from Akhmat (0:3). Why the Serbian failed, who is next to exit, what will give the “blue and white” the discussed arrival of Marko Nikolic – in the material Sport.
What is Jokanovic to blame for? It’s not so much the result of the team that is terrifying, but the quality of the game under Jokanovic. It was not impressive from the first rounds, but there were good matches, even winning streaks. In the spring, Dynamo looks incredibly bad. Shameful defeats at home from «Torch» and «Akhmat» drew a line under the work of the Serb in Moscow.
There are many complaints about the head coach. He called himself a fan of possession, but he never managed to establish ball control, although the level of performers at Dynamo is high. Especially striking was the inability to control the ball in the match with the middle peasant FNL “Akron”. Dynamo under pressure of the opponent switched to long passes, while Togliatti under pressure calmly played the ball from the bottom.
But the transition from fast football to positional was called one of the reasons for the arrival of the Serbian specialist. The team proved to be excellent under the leadership of Schwartz, who put on pressure and the game in transitions, but in the positional attack, the “white-blues” had difficulties. Jokanovic had to fill this gap. But without proper ball control this is impossible.
At the same time, the pressure that gave results under Schwartz also disappeared from the team. It turned out that the Serbian understands the actions of the team without the ball in a completely different way, and in pressing Dynamo for most of the season looked completely helpless. There were problems both on set pieces, and in defense, and in attack. It is difficult to name a component in which Dynamo did not become worse compared to the previous season.
There were questions about the choice of the starting lineup. Smolov always went to the base if he was healthy. At the same time, the talented Tyukavin spent much less time on the field, although he scored twice as many goals from the game as Fedor. The indistinct Cameroonian Ngamale, it is not known for what merits, ousted the young Grulev and Lesovoy from the base, but did not show himself in any way. However, here questions arise not only to Jokanovic, but also to the entire Dynamo sports block.
A Parade of Mistakes by Buvac and GafinAs you know, sports director Zeljko Buvac and member of the board of directors Dmitry Gafin are responsible for the sports block in Dynamo. At the same time, Buvac plays rather the role of an adviser and expert, while Gafin negotiates and is responsible for organizational issues. And the actions of this duet have been raising serious questions for more than a year.
It all started with the transfer of Smolov a year ago. Fedor is top for the RPL, but completely unsuitable for that fast and tempo Dynamo. He scored, but slowed down the game, the partners had to change, and this was one of the factors that caused the team to lose style, and as a result, the final failure.
Over the summer, the club's management made a parade of strange decisions. The very invitation of Jokanovic to replace Schwartz looked ambiguous — the contrast between the two coaches was too great. The result was sad.
There were also problems with the assembly. Having lost three central defenders even before the start of the championship, Dynamo brought a new center-defe only in the third round. And the second newcomer to this position joined the team only in September. It turned out to be the Uruguayan Nicholas Marichal — bought for a solid four million euros, but who lost the competition even to the 18-year-old Serb Maistorovic.
There were other transfers to match. The useless but constantly playing Ngamale has already been mentioned above. Matthias Normann from Rostov, who has long been known for his injuries, was taken to the support zone for rent. In Dynamo, the Norwegian was also treated more than he played. Eli Dasa from the Israeli national team was taken to the right flank of the defense, even the fans laughed at the mistakes in the defense.
And there was also a saga with the signing of Eden Kartsev, who even chose a game number for himself — but Dynamo was never able to transfer money for him. Another failed transfer of Ilya Samoshnikov from Rubin, allegedly due to health problems with the player. In the spring, the leadership delayed the dismissal of Jokanovic to the last, although the game and the results only got worse. The sports unit of the club made too many mistakes for one season.
Jokanovic will be replaced, according to Sport-Express, by Marko Nikolic. This candidacy looks interesting — the specialist has a successful experience of working in the RPL with Lokomotiv. But in terms of style, he does not look like either Schwartz or Jokanovic, which means that the team is waiting for a new restructuring — both in terms of composition and game.
Such an appointment looks like a gesture of desperation on the part of Gafin and Buvac. In an attempt to guess with the coach, they cling to the first option that comes across without thinking through the consequences. And such a strategy has never led to success.
