LESNYE DALY (Moscow Region), May 20. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced the start of de-dollarization of the world economy, noting that such a trend observed not only conceptually, but also in practice.
«De-dollarization has begun, both in practice and in conceptual speeches. As part of the BRICS, Brazil has already proposed to seriously consider at the upcoming summit in August the tasks of protecting financial settlements within this association, protecting the activities of the new development bank from the abuse of the existing, so far, the role of the dollar and many other initiatives in this direction are being put forward,» Lavrov said on Saturday during his speech at the XXXI Assembly of the Council on Foreign and Defense Policy.
The minister added that Russia's position on the issue of de-dollarization is shared by many countries. «We have many allies, many like-minded people,» he said.
