MOSCOW, May 22, Andrey Simonenko. Czech Figure Skating Association has not received an official refusal from the Russian Figure Skating Federation (FFKKR) on its request to allow Russian figure skater Dario Chirizano to represent the Czech Republic, the organization said.
Cirizano previously performed for Russia in a dance duet with Irina Khavronina, the couple broke up at the end of 2022. In early May, it became known that Chirizano teamed up in a duet with Czech Denisa Tsimlova, the couple moved to Montreal and began to train under the guidance of Roman Agenauer. Cirizano was born in Italy, but from the age of five he lived in Russia. Last week, the general director of the FFKKR, Alexander Kogan, said that the federation did not give the go-ahead to Chirizano to change sports citizenship. This means that he will have to go through the so-called quarantine before moving under the new flag.
«We still haven't received any official response from the Russian Figure Skating Federation,» the Czech Figure Skating Association said.
