Uralchem did not rule out the purchase of assets of grain traders leaving Russia

MOSCOW, May 23. Uralchem does not exclude the purchase of assets of foreign grain traders leaving the Russian Federation to support food security in the world, the company's press service reported.< br />«We have considered and are considering various options. Our attention to grain traders is due to the importance of ensuring the supply of grain to world markets and supporting food security in a number of regions of the world,» Uralchem said in response to a question about the interest in acquiring agricultural assets of outgoing Western companies.

Since the end of March, the decision to stop the export of grain from Russia from July 1, 2023 was announced by three major global suppliers of agricultural products: first, it became known about the plans of the American Cargill and the Canadian Viterra, later the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation received a notification from the Russian «daughter» Louis Dreyfus Company. The Ministry of Agriculture noted that before the start of the new export season (July 1), traders must submit information about the sale of their Russian assets to a subcommittee of the government commission for the control of foreign investment in the Russian Federation in order to obtain permission to sell.

Uralchem's interest in buying the assets of Cargill and Viterra was reported by Kommersant in December last year: according to the publication, the company's CEO Dmitry Konyaev wrote a corresponding letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
United Chemical Company Uralchem is one of the largest players in the mineral fertilizer market in Russia and Eastern Europe. Among other assets, he owns Uralkali, the world's largest producer of potash fertilizers.
