SIMFEROPOL, May 27. Zaporozhye region is ready to export up to two million tons of grain to China, the Chinese market is a strategic direction for the region, said the acting head of the region Evgeny Balitsky.

"We are not just doing this work, this is our strategic direction. We would very much like, in cooperation with the People's Republic of China, to obtain for ourselves the sale of two million tons of our grain, which we grow for sale,” Balitsky said.
In addition, according to him, the region is also ready to export finished products in the form of flour and vegetable oil.
Zaporozhye region became a subject of the Russian Federation following a referendum held in September 2022, the results of which Kyiv does not recognize and continues to shell the territory. Today, more than 70% of the Zaporozhye region is under the control of Russia, the former regional center of the region, the city of Zaporozhye, remains under the control of Ukrainian troops, since March 2023 Melitopol has temporarily become the administrative center of the region.
