MOSCOW, May 27. The new satellite of the Russian Federation «Kondor», which was put into orbit earlier on Saturday, is capable of to shoot the Earth's surface in any weather and at any time of the day thanks to a synthetic aperture radar, the press service of Roselectronics reported on Saturday.
«The payload of the satellite is a synthetic aperture radar developed by the Vega concern (part of Roselectronics), designed to obtain high- and medium-resolution radar images. It is equipped with a light umbrella-type reflector antenna and provides all-weather round-the-clock surveillance in the band the earth's surface, parallel to the flight path of the spacecraft,» Ruselectronics said.
It is noted that the tasks of the new satellite include terrain mapping, environmental monitoring and exploration of natural resources. It is emphasized that it is capable of obtaining detailed images of the surface with a resolution of up to 1 meter in any weather and at any time of the day and surveying the Earth in a strip up to 100 kilometers wide in an overview mode. The satellite locator operates in various modes, allowing you to solve a wide range of tasks.
