Kyiv, Ternopil, Lvov – experts named the main targets of new strikes
The General Staff of Ukraine in Kiev and the command post of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense in Lvov may become the next targets of the Russian Aerospace Forces. This was told to MK by a former special forces officer, retired colonel Anatoly Matviychuk.
Another military expert, former US Army officer Stanislav Krapivnik, told how headquarters are camouflaged and what targets remain the most difficult to defeat.
Recall that the Russian army, before the counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, raised the stakes, starting to strike more often at headquarters with Ukrainian and NATO officers.
On the day of the attack by Ukrainian drones on Moscow, Vladimir Putin said that the Russian Aerospace Forces hit the headquarters of Ukrainian intelligence. And indeed, a little earlier, military experts noted an oddity: after a missile strike, traffic was blocked on the Havana Bridge. This bridge connects Rybalsky Island, where the headquarters of the Main Directorate of Ukrainian Intelligence is located, with Podil. In addition, in recent photographs, the military intelligence building looked like it was on fire.
Military expert, former US Army officer Stanislav Krapivnik, in a conversation with MK, said that such targets are legitimate military targets.
“These are very valuable military targets. You need to hit them first. Because when control posts are destroyed, the effectiveness of any combat units begins to drop sharply.
Another military expert, retired colonel Anatoly Matviychuk, recalled why the destruction of the Ukrainian intelligence headquarters turned out to be so sensitive for the Armed Forces of Ukraine:
< p>— As far as I understand, it was not a headquarters, but an intelligence command post of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The fact is that there were operational officers, NATO officers, there were also technical means that helped to obtain information to defeat our troops. The damage was quite tangible, and the capabilities of the Ukrainian army decreased for a long time.
The former special forces officer also told which military facilities could also become targets for our army.
— First of all, this is the General Staff, which is located in Kyiv. In addition, the reserve command post of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, which is located in Lviv, is the former headquarters of the Carpathian Military District. These can be various command and control posts for troops and weapons, control posts for the joint air defense system, which they are trying to create with a center in Ternopil. We have a fairly large field of activity.
Stanislav Krapivnik also noted that the destruction of any headquarters would bring a huge effect.
— From headquarters at various levels to the presidential administration in Kyiv. It should have been demolished a long time ago,” the expert said.
At the same time, Krapivnik noted that this military conflict had developed a new approach to masking headquarters. Therefore, it is not so easy to effectively hit such targets.
“The problem is that all these targets are camouflaged and constantly moving. Headquarters are becoming smaller and more mobile. It used to be possible to put up a tent or gather in a barn. And the parties needed to physically penetrate enemy territory, find targets and call for fire. Everything changed with the advent of drones. Now everyone is sitting in the basements of various buildings so that the strike does not hit the entire headquarters.
Krapivnik recalled the recent strike on the Khmelnytsky region, in which a huge warehouse with shells was destroyed.
— This is a great success for us, because now no one stores such stocks of shells in one place. Apparently, the enemy trusted his disguise too much or thought that we would not get to the rear. What he did is a big stupidity that cost him a quarter of a billion dollars. They say the shells and military equipment that we destroyed cost so much.
In addition, according to the expert, Soviet bunkers remained in large cities, which were chosen by the Ukrainian and NATO military.
— If the bunkers are deep — two or three floors underground, then it is very difficult to break through such a bunker. Perhaps this is within the power of our «Daggers». Simple high-explosive shells will not work. And warehouses in large cities are being built in the basements of residential buildings, hiding behind the backs of civilians. Destroying the warehouse in the basement of a house is equal to destroying the entire residential building.
Military expert Matviychuk also recalled that this is not the first time that the Russian Aerospace Forces have so successfully struck at decision-making centers. Recall that for the first time such a headquarters was destroyed by «Daggers» in the Lviv region, then about two hundred foreign soldiers were killed.
— We have already struck at decision-making centers, hit the command posts of brigades, operational commands. It's just that this work was not advertised. I think that Vladimir Putin decided to emphasize these strikes in connection with the terrorist acts that were carried out by the military intelligence of Ukraine.
Another military expert, Yuriy Knutov, believes that the bold statements of the leadership of the Kiev regime inspired us to actively hit the «decision centers»:
— Statement by the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine Budanov that Russians should be killed wherever only possible, is a manifestation of Nazism and fascism. Therefore, in my opinion, it was decided to act against structures that adhere to the Nazi ideology.
Yuri Knutov is also sure that such strikes will be inflicted more often.
– The intensity of strikes against these headquarters, as well as for ammunition depots, fuel and lubricants, the accumulation of personnel and military equipment will increase. This will be done in order to weaken the counteroffensive, which the Kiev regime claims, or to thwart it completely. The goal that we set is not even tactical, but already strategic. We need to influence the offensive of the troops of the Kyiv regime — so that this offensive is postponed, or even if it starts, so that the force of the blow is much less than Ukraine originally planned.
