WASHINGTON, Jun 6 sentenced to capital punishment for the murder of two prison guards, is scheduled to be executed on Tuesday in the US state of Missouri, the governor's office said.
«Gov. Mike Parson confirmed that the State of Missouri will carry out the execution of Michael Thisius on Tuesday, June 6, 2023, in accordance with an order from the Missouri Supreme Court,» the statement said.
It is noted that in June 2000, Tysius killed two prison guards «during a failed attempt to free a former cellmate.» After his arrest, he gave oral and written confessions to the forces of law and order in the crimes committed.
The upcoming execution of 42-year-old Tisius will be the third in Missouri and the 12th in the United States in 2023, according to the Associated Press. It is emphasized that Tysius asked for a pardon, but on Monday the governor denied it, and the state supreme court denied the request to suspend the enforcement of the sentence.
