MOSCOW, 1 Jun. UrFU scientists together with Russian colleagues proposed a method for the production of complex fertilizer by processing animal waste. The development has already shown good results when tested on a number of crops, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation reported.
Recycling of waste products from farm animals is an important area that allows providing the agricultural industry with affordable fertilizers and solving the problem of decontamination of biological waste, the scientists explained.
For example, only one poultry farm produces about 100 tons of manure per day, experts said. In total, all farms of this type, of which there are more than 500 in the country, produce about 18 million tons of waste annually.
An effective fertilizer based on livestock and poultry waste has been developed by specialists from the Ural Federal University. the first President of Russia B.N. Yeltsin (UrFU) and the Ural Interregional Scientific and Educational Center «Advanced Production Technologies and Materials» in cooperation with an industrial partner. A patent has been obtained for the invention.
«Our technology includes the disinfection of biological waste and the production of an organomineral complex fertilizer. It consists of carbon, magnesium, nitrogen, sulfur, as well as potassium and phosphorus, which play an auxiliary role «, — said the technical expert of the industrial partner of the project Konstantin Lukyashin.
Research of the new fertilizer is carried out by UrFU botanists. Comparative tests on plantations of oats and amaranth showed high development efficiency.
“With the new fertilizer, the number of grains in the inflorescence increased by 19.7%, an increase in generative shoots by 17% was noted. These are good indicators, given that the amount of precipitation in the test period was significantly below the norm,» said Anna Batekhtina, senior researcher at the UrFU Laboratory of Restorative Ecology.
The fertilizer contains positive properties of both organic and mineral components, the scientists explained. According to them, in order to apply the development on a wide range of crops, it is necessary to select the optimal concentrations, taking into account the condition of the soil, the region of growth and other factors.
The authors of the development are confident in the prospects for the mass introduction of the new fertilizer, since The country is fully provided with the raw material base for it.
