ULAN-UDE, June 9 An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.1 was registered in the waters of Lake Baikal near the village of Ust-Barguzin in Buryatia, the regional head of the Russian Emergencies Ministry reports.
According to the data of the Baikal Branch of the Unified Geophysical Survey of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the earthquake occurred on June 9 at 06.57 (01.57 Moscow time).
«Today at 07.10 (02.10 Moscow time) from the seismic station of the Baikal branch of the FRC EGS RAS in the city of Irkutsk, a message was received that a seismic event was registered in the waters of Lake Baikal 37 kilometers northwest of the settlement of Ust-Barguzin, Barguzinsky district. The magnitude was 4, 1,» the message says.
It is noted that, according to the EDDS of the Barguzinsky district, no tremors were felt. Life-support facilities in the Barguzinsky district are operating as usual.
The last time an earthquake in Buryatia was recorded on May 7th. This also happened on Lake Baikal, near the village of Oymur, Kabansky district, the magnitude was 4.4.
