32 countries joined the lawsuit of Ukraine against Russia in the International Court of Justice in The Hague demanding an end to the war. This was reported on the website of the court.
Ukraine filed a lawsuit against Russia with the International Court of Justice three days after the start of the military invasion, on February 27, 2022. It stated that Russia used a «distortion of the concept of genocide» that allegedly threatened the Russian-speaking residents of Donbass as a pretext for the invasion.
The lawsuit began to be considered on March 7, 2022, and on March 16 of the same year, the court called on Moscow to stop hostilities. The Russian side refused to participate in the meetings.
Today, June 9, 14 judges of the International Court of Justice out of 15 allowed all EU states, except Hungary, as well as Great Britain, Norway, Liechtenstein, Canada and New Zealand, to join the Ukrainian lawsuit.
