Detained in early May at Sheremetyevo Airport, 23-year-old activist from Derbent Ulker Gashimova, after serving two administrative arrests, was sent by plane to Dagestan, where FSB officers took away her documents. This was reported to Kavkaz.Realii by her partner Anton Kolomitsyn.
According to Kolomitsyn, the security forces do not allow Gashimova to communicate with human rights activists and acquaintances, he himself managed to briefly talk with her a few days ago, she sent him a photo from her house in Derbent and no longer got in touch. Whether any criminal case has been initiated against her is unknown.
Gashimova blogged on Instagram with 200 followers, where she wrote about her Azeri heritage, the need to “decolonize and denazify” Russia, post memes, and speak out against the war in Ukraine. Kolomitsyn said that the girl «was active in several dozen» telegram chats with similar topics.
Kolomitsyn said that on May 2, Gashimova was supposed to fly from Moscow via Belgrade to him in the Netherlands, where they were going to get married. The girl, her partner explained, was stopped during check-in for a flight, and on the same evening her mother's house in Derbent was searched. As a result, the activist was arrested for 10 days under a protocol on disobedience to the security forces when crossing the border (18.7 of the Code of Administrative Offenses), the decision was made on May 5 by JP in Khimki near Moscow.
On May 15, Gashimova was sentenced to another 15 days of arrest under the article on disobedience to the security forces (part 1 of article 19.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses), follows from the decision of the Mytishchi city court. The document states that the activist refused to present her passport and proceed to the official car in front of the police department.
Kolomitsyn said that the lawyers were looking for Gashimova in the special detention center of Mytishchi, but they answered that the girl was not kept by them.
The Marem human rights project, which helps residents of the regions of the North Caucasus, noted that in 2022 Gashimova turned to them for help because of a conflict with the teachers of her music school. In October 2022, the girl was expelled for refusing to attend the “Talk about the Important” classes, Kolomitsyn noted.
