A minor resident of Shumikha, Kurgan region, died from poisoning with the alcoholic drink «Mr. Cider», produced in the Samara region, the press service of the regional health department reported.
“A patient who was admitted in a serious condition from Shumikha at the beginning of the week to the Kurgan Regional Children's Hospital named after the Red Cross with poisoning from a low-alcohol drink containing methanol, died. <…> The exact cause of death will be established as a result of an autopsy, but now we can already say that a large dose of methanol got into the girl’s body, ”the message says.
Baza wrote that a 16-year-old eleventh grader suffered in Shumikha. According to the Telegram channel, the schoolgirl fell into a coma.
On June 7, due to the departure of a resident of Shumikha, a criminal case was opened on the sale of products that do not meet safety requirements (Part 2 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code). “At the moment, as part of the investigation, more than 17,000 liters of an alcoholic drink have been seized from sale,” the regional department of the UK said. The Ministry of Internal Affairs also reported on the seizure of the drink «Mr. Cider» from a warehouse in Shadrinsk.
Another victim of drink poisoning in the Kurgan region is in intensive care at the Shadrinskaya Central District Hospital. “The patient's condition is moderate, closer to satisfactory. There is no threat to life. He is receiving medical care,” the press service explained.
The first cases of poisoning with a drink in the Ulyanovsk region became known on the evening of June 5. At the moment, several dozen residents of the Ulyanovsk, Samara, Nizhny Novgorod and Penza regions, as well as in Udmurtia and Chuvashia, have suffered. More than 30 people have died.
In the case of the death of residents of the regions of the Volga region, the court in Ulyanovsk arrested the Samara businessman Anar Huseynov. The founder of the company «Andi», which supplied alcohol, is under the article on the provision of services that do not meet safety requirements (part 3 of article 238 of the Criminal Code). TASS added that another suspect was detained in Ulyanovsk, who was related to the supply of the Mister Cider drink.
In Samara, security official Ivan Grebenkin was also detained, who, according to investigators, helped steal six tons from the warehouse of the Ministry of Internal Affairs methyl alcohol, which was then resold and used to create Mr. Cider. In addition to the policeman, a local resident Dmitry Egorov, who participated in the theft with his father Alexei, was detained. Vladimir Kolokoltsev fired two high-ranking Samara police officers who were responsible for the activities of economic units.
