LUGANSK, June 14 The court sentenced a Ukrainian soldier to eight years in a strict regime colony for kidnapping a person in the LPR, committed even before the start of the SVO, the republican department of the RF IC reported on Wednesday.
In October 2021, a serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Yuriy Zakopets with two subordinates was near the Pervomaisk-Zolotoe checkpoint in the territory of the withdrawal zone, where they noticed a representative of the JCCC wearing a uniform with distinctive signs. Zakopets and his colleagues approached him and demanded, threatening him with a machine gun, to follow them to the territory controlled by Kyiv.
Having received a refusal, Zakopets fired several shots «over the victim's head» and then, «suppressing resistance», they took the JCCC employee to an unknown place, where they held him for more than 140 days.
«During the preliminary investigation, the accused admitted his guilt in full, telling in detail about the motive and method of committing the crime. By a court verdict, Zakopets was sentenced to eight years' imprisonment with a sentence to be served in a strict regime colony «, — the release says in the management's telegram channel.
The criminal case of his colleagues has been separated into a separate proceeding.
