Report: Pulitzer Prize winner Cormac McCarthy dies

MOSCOW, June 14 American novelist and Pulitzer Prize winner Cormac McCarthy has died at the age of 89, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The writer died at his home in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

McCarthy is best known for his post-apocalyptic novel The Road, for which he received a Pulitzer Prize in 2007, as well as No Country for Old Men and Horses, Horses.

In addition, the writer became famous for his screenwriting. McCarthy wrote the screenplay for Ridley Scott's crime thriller The Counselor (2013).
Many of McCarthy's novels have been made into films. So, for example, in 2007, a film adaptation of his novel No Country for Old Men was released, filmed by famous directors Joel and Ethan Coel. This film won four Oscars. The novel The Road was filmed in 2009 by director John Hillcoat.
