STAR CITY (Moscow Region), June 16 training, and those who passed the exam on June 14 were qualified as a test cosmonaut, Maxim Kharlamov, head of the Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center (CTC), said on Friday.
«»Based on the results of the discussion of the results of training, the results of the state exam of Kiviryan Harutyun Arutyunovich, Kolyabin Alexander Sergeevich and Teteryatnikov Sergey Alexandrovich, they were awarded the qualification of test cosmonaut,» Kharlamov said.
He added that one of the candidates, Sergei Irtuganov, was not admitted by the chief medical commission to special training, so the issue of conferring the same qualification on him was not considered.
The latest recruitment to the Roscosmos detachment was announced in 2019. At the beginning of 2021, the CPC announced that the Interdepartmental Commission recommended that four people be appointed to the positions of candidates for astronauts.
They were deputy commander of a fighter aviation squadron Alexander Kolyabin, Sergey Teteryatnikov, who operated submarines, aviation engineer Sergey Irtuganov and test engineer of the Energia Rocket and Space Corporation (RKK) Harutyun Kiviryan.
According to Roscosmos, since the spring of 2021, candidates have been undergoing general space training and passed the exam on June 14.
Thus, the number of cosmonauts in the Russian detachment has increased to 26. 15 of them have never flown into space. It is planned that a new recruitment, as a result of which six more candidates will join the squad, will be announced this year.
