CAiro, Jun 16An exhibition of paintings by Russian and Egyptian artists has opened at the Russian House in the Egyptian capital Cairo, a correspondent reports.
The exposition is dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and Egypt. A few days earlier, the project was shown in Alexandria.
«Project «Under the same sun. Russia-Egypt» is dedicated to the rapprochement of the two countries. These are absolutely two different cultures, but they are true to themselves. They are different, but complement each other so well,» curator and graphic artist Daria Karacheva.
The exhibition features paintings by several Russian artists, painted by them during their visits to Cairo and Alexandria.
Member of the Union of Artists of Russia, art critic Olga Smirnova said that she had the strongest impression of the pyramids of Giza.
“When you walk, without even raising your eyes, you understand how these pyramids were built. We painted for an hour and a half or two hours in the heat, but you don’t feel it when you are in the desire to catch an impression,” Smirnova said.
Artist and writer Mikhail Rakov emphasized that ancient Egyptian mosques, buildings and quarters make a tremendous impression on a person who sees them for the first time.
The exhibition was also visited by Russian citizens living in Egypt and representatives of the Egyptian public.
