Rosneft noted that last year it continued to apply technology for detecting methane emissions using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and ground-based monitoring equipment. Within the framework of the program, 341 objects were surveyed in 24 producing companies of Rosneft using UAVs and 525 objects using ground-based monitoring tools. As a result, a set of measures was developed to effectively eliminate the detected sources of methane emissions, the company added.
Also in 2022, Rosneft, as part of the investment gas program to improve the rational use of associated petroleum gas, launched 17 new facilities, including gas injection facilities, power generation, gas treatment and use, as well as gas transportation infrastructure.
The company stressed that over ten years, from 2013 to 2022, it has invested about 204 billion rubles in projects to involve associated petroleum gas in the beneficial use.
In December 2021, Rosneft introduced a new strategy, Rosneft 2030: Reliable Energy and Global Energy Transition, and became the first company in the Russian oil and gas industry to set a strategic goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.
