Belarus may ban the exchange of cryptocurrency between individuals

MINSK, July 2 Belarus may ban transactions for the exchange of cryptocurrency between individuals, the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic reported.
The department noted that since the beginning of the year, employees of the cybercrime counteraction units have stopped the activities of 27 citizens in Belarus providing illegal services for the exchange of cryptocurrencies. Their total illegal income amounted to almost 22 million Belarusian rubles (approximately $7.3 million).
“Such services are in demand among scammers who cash out and convert stolen funds in this way, transfer money to organizers or participants in criminal schemes. To exclude such facts, the Ministry of Internal Affairs is working on legislative innovations that prohibit cryptocurrency exchange transactions between individuals. For transparency and control, citizens will be allowed to carry out such financial transactions only through the exchanges of the HTP (Hi-Tech Park — ed.).
The introduction of a practice similar to the procedure for exchanging foreign currencies will make it impossible to withdraw money obtained by criminal means. the information technology sector will simply become unprofitable to operate in Belarus, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the republic noted. .ru/20230116/kriptorynok-1845072593.html» data-title=»An expert told how scammers lure victims on the crypto market»>
