«The professional requirements that apply to a test cosmonaut, whom we plan to train, can initially be fulfilled by a person who has received a basic system education in this profession,» Kharlamov said, answering a relevant question at a press conference.
«We do not have the opportunity to train each individual applicant in the volume of a school, then a university or an institute,» he added.
Kharlamov clarified that the specialists involved in the training of cosmonauts analyzed the educational programs and chose the most suitable ones. Therefore, during the selection, the commission pays attention to applicants with certain specialties.
As follows from the documents presented on the CPC website, applicants must have higher education in the field of computer science, electronics and radio engineering, photonics and instrumentation, electrical and thermal power engineering, nuclear energy, mechanical engineering, aviation and rocket and space technology, nanotechnology, mathematics and mechanics , physics, chemistry and biological sciences.
A new set of cosmonauts of Roskosmos started on July 10, 2023. Documents from applicants are accepted until October 30. Citizens of Russia up to 35 years old can participate in the competition.
