Polyansky revealed the interests of the West in the conflict in Ukraine

UN, Jul 18 The West is interested in playing off Russians and Ukrainians , as well as in the maximum weakening of Russia, Dmitry Polyansky, First Deputy Representative of the Russian Federation to the world organization, said at a meeting of the UN General Assembly, explaining the interests of Western powers in the conflict in Ukraine.
«It is clear what the interests of the West are. To pit two fraternal peoples in the spirit of classical colonial traditions, to try to weaken and bleed Russia as much as possible in order to prevent its revival as a world power or at least delay the birth of a new multipolar world,» Polyansky said .

«Getting rid of old, decommissioned weapons in Ukraine, testing new ones there if possible, and also getting money from taxpayers to re-equip our own armies. And at the same time, letting your arms companies earn extra money is, of course, not disinterested for the highest echelons of power,» he added.

At the same time, Polyansky asked rhetorically whether it is in Ukraine's interests to «become a devastated, deindustrialized country… that has lost most of its able-bodied population as labor migrants in the West.» He also wondered if Ukraine was interested in poisoning fertile soil with UK-supplied depleted uranium projectiles or US-supplied cluster munitions. Does Ukraine need to raise a whole generation in the spirit of hatred for everything foreign, frenzied nationalism and worship of Nazi criminals. Does Kiev need to provide its citizens as «guinea pigs» for American biolaboratories in Ukraine.
«But it is this legacy that Zelensky will leave behind, who was elected by almost three-quarters of voters in 2019 thanks to slogans about protecting the Russian language and striving for a peaceful solution to the Donbas problem,» he stressed.
Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the United States and NATO are directly involved in the conflict in Ukraine, «including not only supplies of weapons, but also training … in the UK, Germany, Italy and other countries.»
Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine on 24 February. President Vladimir Putin called its goal «the protection of people who for eight years have been subjected to abuse, genocide by the Kyiv regime.»
