WASHINGTON, Jul 19 about $2.9 billion, the Pentagon's Security Cooperation Agency said.
According to the agency's statement, the German government has expressed a desire to purchase up to 969 missiles of this type from the United States, as well as related equipment. Raytheon will be the prime contractor for this order.
«The proposed sale of these missiles will serve the interests of US foreign policy and national security by strengthening the security of a NATO ally, which is an important force in the context of political and economic stability in Europe,» the Agency said.
The US authorities have already informed Congress about this deal. The legislature will now have 30 days to study it and decide on its possible blocking.
