
MOSCOW, Jul 20 U.S. Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland may visit South Africa soon, Foreign Policy magazine reported, citing a knowledgeable nyh American officials.
«Nuland is expected to travel to South Africa in the coming weeks,» the publication said. According to the magazine, Gregory Meeks, vice chairman of the US House Foreign Affairs Committee, also plans to visit the country in August.
It is noted that politicians want to find ways to put pressure on South Africa to reconsider its relationship with Russia. According to Foreign Policy, a group of four U.S. lawmakers in June called on the Joe Biden administration to scrap plans to host a trade summit in South Africa because the event could serve as «an endorsement of… South Africa's support for Russia's invasion of Ukraine» and lead to sanctions violations.
