«Among the important indicators for Russian-African cooperation, one should note the export of security. Support for stability in certain countries and assistance in resolving conflicts are becoming an important resource for Russian assistance to African states,» the politician said.
This is especially true of assistance to states where the West is working out the next scenarios of «color revolutions» and other technologies of interference in the internal affairs of African countries in order to promote pro-Western forces to power, said the Vice Speaker of the Federation Council.
At the same time, as the senator emphasized, «our cooperation with the countries of the promising African continent should not be based on the same bloc principles on which it was often built by the Soviet Union.» According to Kosachev, the common position of the Africans is their unwillingness to participate in the conflicts of the big powers and in the new «cold wars».
«Therefore, our mission in Africa should not be reduced to finding allies in opposition to the West, but to supporting the countries of the continent in their aspiration to become a subject, not an object of world politics,» the parliamentarian is sure.
According to the legislator, Russia is interested in strengthening African integration and its institutions, in achieving independence of the countries of the continent from external influence, in pursuing a sovereign course by collective Africa in world affairs — in this our interests objectively coincide with the majority of African political forces.
Kosachev noted that Russia and Africa have great scope for cooperation, including through the parliamentary line.
