MOSCOW, July 24 Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law on the powers of the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation to control foreign agents, the corresponding document is published on the official Internet portal of legal information.
The law provides for assigning to the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation the authority «to exercise state control over compliance with the legislation on foreign agents.»
In addition, the law supplements 255-FZ «On Control over the Activities of Persons Under Foreign Influence» with the following provision: public authorities, organizations, officials and individuals, in carrying out their activities, «are obliged to take into account the restrictions associated with the status of a foreign agent». Actions (inaction) of the said persons must not contribute to the violation by the foreign agent of the legislation of the Russian Federation on foreign agents. The law provides for a ban for foreign agents to receive state financial and property support, including in the implementation of creative activities.
It also establishes the possibility of conducting scheduled and unscheduled inspections of foreign agents.
