Earlier, the head of the Russian Defense Ministry laid a basket of flowers at the monuments of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il on Mansu Hill in the very center of the DPRK capital.
The «Liberation» monument was erected in the capital of the DPRK on August 15, 1946 as a token of the Korean people's gratitude to the Soviet soldiers who fell during the liberation of Korea in 1945. The monument is a 30-meter granite stele crowned with a red star. The obelisk is located on one of the highest hills in the center of Pyongyang — Mount Moranbong, which offers a panoramic view of the entire city.
