DONETSK, Jul 26 Ukrainian troops fired a total of 23 NATO-caliber 155mm shells in a number of areas in Donetsk and Makiivka in an hour on Wednesday, reports the representative office of the DPR in the Joint Center for Control and Coordination of Issues Related to War Crimes of Ukraine (JCCC).
«Fishes were recorded from the AFU (armed formations of Ukraine — ed.) in the following directions: 15.35 — the settlement of Netaylovo — the city of Donetsk (Kuibyshevsky district): three shells with a caliber of 155 millimeters were fired; 15.40 — the settlement of Orlovka — the city of Donetsk (Kiev district): three shells of 155 mm caliber were fired; 15.40 — the settlement of Orlovka — the settlement of Makeevka (Chervonogvardeysky district): three shells of 155 mm caliber were fired; 15.45 — the settlement of Orlovka — the city of Donetsk (Kiev district): three shells of 155 mm caliber were fired; 15.45 — the settlement of Orlovka — the settlement of Makeevka (Chervonogvardeisky district): four shells of 155 mm caliber were fired,» the message of the representative office in the Telegram channel says.
Another seven shells from «NATO» artillery were fired at 16.35 at the Kievsky district of Donetsk and Makeevka. From 15.50 to 16.10 Ukrainian troops shelled Gorlovka, 17 shells with a caliber of 152 mm were fired at the city.
Makeevka is a satellite city of Donetsk, adjacent to it from the northeast. In 2014, the population of Makeevka was about 350 thousand people.
155 mm artillery is used by NATO countries. The United States has supplied Ukraine with long-range M777 howitzers of 155 mm caliber, Ukrainian troops are actively using them to shell the cities of the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics. Also, the Ukrainian troops were supplied with German PzH 2000 self-propelled artillery mounts, Polish Krab self-propelled guns and French CAESAR self-propelled guns using shells of this caliber.
