“I am sure that the bas-relief will not only decorate the building of the main Admiralty, but will also serve as a reminder of the legendary page in the history of the Russian fleet, of the valiant sailor heroes who selflessly defended the status of Russia as a great maritime power,” Pankov said at the opening ceremony of the bas-relief .
Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation congratulated all those present at the ceremony on the Day of the Navy, and also expressed gratitude to the military artists of the Grekov Studio, who took part in the creation of the bas-relief. The author of the bas-relief is the sculptor Alexei Ignatov.

Small sculptural forms in honor of the historical events of the Russian Navy have traditionally been opened on the day of the holiday since 2020. Then the opening of the bas-relief «Battle of Gangut» took place in the Admiralty. In subsequent years, sculptural works dedicated to the Chesme and Sinop battles were discovered. According to the Defense Ministry, in the future it is planned to continue creating bas-reliefs dedicated to significant events in the history of the Russian fleet.
