A 33-year-old Chelyabinsk woman spent almost 14 years in captivity in a private house near Chelyabinsk, the regional department of the Investigative Committee said. She managed to escape yesterday, July 30, according to Interfax, Baza and Mash.
Vladimir Cheskidov, an Uralian, met a victim named Ekaterina at the Sinegorye bus station in the fall of 2009, when he was 37 years old, and she 19. He had a drink with a girl and brought her to his home in the village of Smolino, southwest of Chelyabinsk. The Chelyabinsk resident locked the girl in a separate room with bars and regularly used sexualized violence against her.
“When the man left, he tied the girl, fastened to the beam and sealed her mouth with tape. Neighbors told Mash that the woman in conversations called the girl the wife of her son, and the fact that both did not leave the house explained them as unsociable. Another resident of Smolino clarified to 72.ru that she had never seen the captive, even during a visit to the Cheskidovs' house, and had only heard stories about her from her mother. «What a Girl? According to the publications, the girl was able to escape when the kidnapper “began to behave too aggressively” due to alcohol consumption and his mother called an ambulance . He did not close the door to the room with the captive, and, left alone in the house, the girl ran away.
The 51-year-old Cheskidov himself remains in the «medical institution», writes the UK. To date, a case has been initiated against him only under the article on kidnapping (paragraph “c” of part 2 of article 126 of the Criminal Code).
