The FAW-owned luxury marque is bringing a new-generation three-row SUV to the home market. So far, the model is presented only with a two-liter turbo engine, but later versions with V6 3.0 may be pulled up.
In general, in the certification pictures that were posted on the Web back in February, this Hongqi crossover was designated as HS6: it was believed that the model would complement the brand line. However, in the end, the FAW concern that owns the brand decided to position the SUV as the next generation HS7. The public premiere of the fresh cross took place in April at the Shanghai Motor Show, but now preliminary prices have been announced in China, dealers have begun to take orders. By the way, the cars have already appeared in showrooms, so they were snapped off by local specialized media: Autohome was among those. Well, we recall that the “first” Hongqi HS7 started at home in 2019.

Technically cross became easier. So, if the predecessor is made on a “trolley” with a longitudinal engine and the main rear-wheel drive, then the novelty is based on a front-wheel drive “transverse” platform. And the SUV seems to have lost its air suspension.
The appearance is made in the new Hongqi corporate style, which has already been tried on by the H5 and H9 sedans, the restyled HS5 cross and the HS3 SUV. The characteristic features of this style are a giant grille a la Rolls-Royce and two-story head optics. Other features of the “seven” are chrome horizontal stripes in the rear roof pillars and a massive shiny plate that combines the lights.

The new HS7 is more compact than its predecessor, the SUV is 4995 mm long, 1960 mm wide, 1760 mm high, with wheels base — 2920 mm. For comparison, the dimensions of the previous crossover: 5035/1989/1778 mm, the distance between the axles is 3008 mm. The novelty is based on 18- or 20-inch wheels.
The cabin has a large virtual tidy and a multimedia system with a vertical tablet, which is now “sewn” with “climate” settings (the previous HS7 has a separate touch panel). Under the central display, there is room for a couple of wireless charging pads. The crossover is available in five, six or seven seater versions.

But the classic eight-speed automatic has replaced the seven-speed robotic box. Drive forward or full. The previous HS7 is still presented with a V6 3.0 petrol turbo engine (337 hp, 445 Nm): it is expected that later the new SUV will also receive this engine.
For the new generation Hongqi HS7 in China now asking about 36,200 — 46,900 dollars. However, «preliminary prices» in China often mean that the model will end up being slightly cheaper. The predecessor with 2.0T costs from $36,000, with V6 3.0T — somewhere from $49,000.

Russian The Hongqi brand began to develop the market officially quite recently. So far, we have presented the pre-reform HS5 cross, the H5 and H9 sedans and the E-HS9 electric SUV. At the same time, by the middle of next year, the local office plans to bring 2-4 more models to the Russian Federation, and it is possible that one of them will be the HS7 (although it is not a fact that the second generation).
