MOSCOW, 1 Aug. Singers-foreign agents participating in the Laima Vaikule music festival in Latvia will no longer return to their homeland in Russia due to lack of demand. This opinion was expressed by Elena Drapeko, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Culture.

«They chose a side. We cross them out. The way here is ordered for them… [In Russia] people categorically do not want to see them. And that's right,» the deputy said in an interview with the Paragraph portal.
According to Elena Drapeko, artists will not succeed in a foreign country either, because they sing not in Latvian.
“But few people in Latvia need them, because these Russophobes perform in Russian,” Drapeko said.
Drapeko also responded unflatteringly to the organizer of the Laima festival.
“She performed [in Russia] with pleasure, earned money and received applause. This is a category of people who have food where they have their homeland. This is both a money issue and orientation towards success in the West,” the deputy summed up .
The Rendezvous Music Festival was held in Jurmala at the end of July. Vaikule invited Ukrainian and Latvian artists to her event, Vera Brezhneva, who fled Russia after the start of the special operation, as well as foreign agents Maria Maksakova* and Andrey Makarevich*. Alla Pugacheva and Maxim Galkin* were present.
