MOSCOW, Aug 2 The Russian government approved for 2024 the list of programs — domestic and from the EAEU countries — for mandatory pre-installation on smartphones, computers and digital TVs, adding for the last few video services, the press service of the Cabinet reported.

“The government has decided on a list of Russian programs that must be pre-installed in 2024 on mobile phones, computers and TVs with a digital control unit. The list was approved by government decree. In addition to the programs required for pre-installation this year, several video services have been added to the new list,” the message says.
The press service reminded that the owners of electronic devices will still be able to independently choose which program or application to use.
According to the document that is available, the Zen news aggregator, Rutube video hosting, have been added to the list of pre-installed programs for smartphones and tablet computers; the search engine «Yandex» was replaced by «Yandex with Alice»; the news aggregator Mail.ru News and OK Live video hosting were removed from the list.
The list for TVs was supplemented by «Yandex Browser» and video services Amediateka, Kion, «Beeline TV», «Tricolor Cinema and TV Online» and «Dom.ru Movix». In addition, the Yandex search engine was replaced by Yandex with Alice, and the Okko video service was replaced by Okko Movies.
The list of programs for desktop computers and laptops remained the same.
The law on the mandatory pre-installation of Russian programs on smartphones, tablets, computers and TVs with the Smart TV function sold in Russia came into force in April 2021. The selection for inclusion of specific applications in the list is carried out by the Ministry of Digital Development. The most popular applications with an audience of at least 500 thousand users (excluding certain classes of programs) are selected for presetting.
