Pence backs accusations against Trump

WASHINGTON Aug 2 Former U.S. Vice President Mike Pence on his Twitter account supported the accusations against his ex-boss Donald Trump in the 2021 Capitol storming case.
«Anyone who puts himself above the constitution should never become president of the United States. Our country is more important than one person, Our constitution is more important than anyone's career. On January 6, former President Trump demanded that I choose between him and the constitution, I chose the constitution and always I will make that choice,» Pence tweeted.

He emphasized that the new accusation against Trump is a reminder of the importance of observing the country's fundamental law.

Pence, like Trump, will compete for the Republican nomination in the 2024 presidential election, he promised the electorate to always protect fellow citizens, but strictly within the framework of the constitution.
Trump previously faced new charges on four counts, including conspiracy to deceive and attempt to forcibly prevent the approval of the election results in 2021. The former president faces more than 50 years in prison on new charges. He is due to appear in court in Washington on August 3.
The Trump team believes that the «Biden crime family» and the US Department of Justice are behind the allegations, whose actions are aimed at «interfering in the 2024 presidential election in which … Trump is the undisputed leader by a wide margin.»

Trump's supporters believe that this «witch hunt» will fail, and that Donald Trump will return to the White House following the election results.

On January 6, 2021, Trump supporters attacked the Capitol, blocking Congress for several hours. After the protesters were expelled from the building, congressmen approved the victory of Joe Biden in the presidential election. Pence, in his capacity as Speaker of the Senate, supported the constitutional process. Subsequently, hundreds of people in the United States were arrested by law enforcement agencies on charges related to participation in the assault.
