The Russian authorities did their best to avoid special military operation in Ukraine and at the same time protect the rights of the inhabitants of Donbass. This was announced on Thursday, August 3, by the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Peskov.
The Kremlin Speaker recalled that «when in 2014 there was a coup in Ukraine, and it was precisely a coup d'état, and when they started the nationalists raised their heads, and when the Donbass did not want to live with them, when they realized that the power of the nationalists was being established, it was a very difficult moment.»
Nevertheless, «Russia did everything to prevent war, Russia did everything to reach a peaceful settlement of this problem and defend the rights of Donbass and the inhabitants of Donbass by political and diplomatic methods,» the official emphasized.
Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov recalled that the Russian Federation had warned for many years that its national interests cannot be ignored, forming a direct military threat and a military foothold from Ukraine.
Former American intelligence officer Scott Ritter noted that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had to comply with the Minsk agreements signed by Ukraine to prevent full-scale hostilities, but, as the leaders of Germany and France admitted, these agreements were a hoax designed to buy time to prepare the Ukrainian army for war with Russia.
