
MOSCOW, Aug 4 Three people died in Slovenia as a result of floods and landslides caused by heavy rains, Agence France-Presse reports, citing local police.
«In the past 24 hours, three people have died due to bad weather,» the agency reports the words of the representative of the local police Maija Adlesic.
It is reported that two foreign tourists were among the victims. The agency also notes that about 16,000 local households were left without electricity.
According to the Slovenian civil defense department, some regions of the country are completely cut off from transport communications, communication with them is difficult.
As the Slovenian news agency STA reported earlier, severe floods almost throughout the country were caused by heavy rains, meteorologists warn that precipitation may continue. About 250 members of the Slovenian Armed Forces were sent to assist the civil defense forces and local fire brigades in the fight against floods and landslides.
