
MOSCOW Aug 8 Russian election commissions in their own way The composition differs from the Western ones in that they are «truly popular», since they have a minimum number of officials — less than 6%, and at least half of those who represent all the political forces of the country, said Ella Pamfilova, head of the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation.
«What is the election commission of Russia? They are significantly different from many election commissions of Western countries, which appoint themselves democrats… They organize elections and count the votes of the departments that are part of the executive branch. … And our election commissions are truly people's, … they include at least half of those who represent all the political forces of the country,» Pamfilova told reporters.
She also clarified that there are less than 6% of officials in the electoral commissions.
“These are people's commissions. That is, a complete cross-section of society in terms of political, social, democratic, national, religious, professional aspects,” she explained.
The head of the CEC noted that Russia has preserved all nationalities, «including even small nationalities, languages, traditions.»
«We never had a melting pot when people forgot about their national roots,» Pamfilova summed up.
