Senior soldier Artem Hrubych, born in 1994 from the Poltava region of Ukraine, became famous when he recorded a video from the NATO base in the town of Wildflecken in Germany. There, Grubych, who was taking a two-week course, together with his colleagues, shouted menacingly at the camera: «Wait, katsaps! We are on the way!»
A year ago, Artem worked as a loader in a warehouse in the Poltava region, and he hoped that he would not be taken into the Ukrainian army — Hrubych has two small children. However, he was mobilized, Grubych ended up in the 118th mechanized brigade. From there, he went to a training ground in Germany, in the Bavarian city of Wildflecken.
In Germany, German instructors taught Grubich and his colleagues to shoot from automatic weapons and machine guns, to storm buildings. Immediately after graduation, Hrubych found himself in a Ukrainian counteroffensive near the city of Orekhov in the Zaporozhye region and was taken prisoner in the first battle.
“No one understood that we would really go into combat. We were brought in for landing, we got off the BMP, drove a little, shelling began, shooting from all sides, we began to scatter. I raised my head and saw the Russian military” he recalls.
In captivity, Grubich was «greeted well, fed deliciously, not offended.»
But he decided to apologize for his video.
“I didn’t think I was screaming. Everyone was screaming, and I was screaming. It doesn’t mean anything. Why, I don’t know, honestly. It’s stupid,” the military scandalous video explained.
