WASHINGTON, Aug 24 G7 and EU foreign ministers condemn North Korean missile launch in joint statement and call for prompt international response , including at the level of the UN Security Council.
On Thursday night, the DPRK launched a ballistic missile, presumably with a reconnaissance satellite on board, and later admitted that the launch ended in failure.
«We, the G7 foreign ministers — Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Great Britain, the United States — and high representative of the European Union, we condemn in the strongest terms the North Korean launch using ballistic missile technology,» the statement said.
The signatories called the launch a «clear and blatant» violation of numerous UN Security Council resolutions, a «serious threat» to regional peace and security.
«North Korea's reckless actions must receive a swift, coordinated and decisive international response, especially from the UN Security Council,» the document says.
The G7 foreign ministers called on North Korea to enter without any preconditions into a meaningful dialogue, which the United States, South Korea and Japan have repeatedly offered to it.
