In Russian schools, from September 4, «Conversations about the Important» will resume — class hours, at which they discuss «key aspects of human life in modern Russia.» As Mediazona noted, the authorities have already published manuals for the first three classes of the new academic year.
The first class hour will be dedicated to Knowledge Day. Teachers of all grades — from 1 to 11 — and college teachers are recommended to start their classes by watching a video of President Vladimir Putin meeting with schoolchildren on September 1, 2023. It is still unclear what exactly Putin will tell schoolchildren.
“The motivational part of the lesson begins with watching a video recording of the meeting of the President of the Russian Federation V.V. Putin with schoolchildren at the All-Russian lesson «Talk about the important» September 1, 2023 and subsequent discussion. This block of materials will be available in the lesson script after 09/02/2023,” the lesson script says.
“Conversations about the important” appeared in Russian schools in 2022. In the recommendations for the first class hour dedicated to the Day of Knowledge, Putin was not mentioned. In other lessons, the children were explained why the Russian army invaded Ukraine — it «defends our common right to live in peace» — and talked about the justice of the annexation of Crimea.
