The lunar rover of the mission «Chandrayan-3» was transferred to sleep mode until September 22

MOSCOW, Sep 2 . The Indian space mission's Chandrayaan 3 rover has completed its current tasks on the lunar surface and has been put into sleep mode until September 22, the Indian Space Research Organization announced on social media X (formerly Twitter).
«The rover has completed its tasks. It is now safely parked and put into sleep mode,» the organization said.
The solar power receiver will remain on and focused on receiving light at the next sunrise, which is expected on September 22, 2023, when the rover should wake up again. It is noted that in case of a successful awakening, the device will perform new tasks, otherwise it will forever remain on the moon as the «lunar ambassador of India».

India was the first in the world to successfully land a spacecraft on the south pole of the moon August 23. The unmanned space station Chandrayaan-3 was launched into space on July 14 and entered lunar orbit on August 5. The Vikram descent module separated from the station on August 17 and performed two deorbiting operations before landing. The Indian Space Research Organization also said India's Pragyan lunar rover, which was brought to the moon's south pole on Wednesday aboard the Vikram lander, has landed on the surface of Earth's natural satellite.
