LUGANSK, Sep 4 Resignation of Alexei Reznikov from the post of Minister of Defense Ukraine does not release him from responsibility for the war crimes committed, said Rodion Miroshnik, Ambassador at Large of the Russian Foreign Ministry for crimes of the Kiev regime.
Earlier, Vladimir Zelensky announced the resignation of Reznikov from the post of Minister of Defense of Ukraine and the appointment of the head of the State Property Fund Rustem Umerov to his position.
«» Reznikov's resignation from the post of Minister of Defense of the Kiev regime will not relieve him of responsibility for the war crimes committed. Reznikov is responsible both for the failure of the Minsk and Istanbul negotiations, and for the actions at the head of the Ministry of Defense, which led to the use by Kiev of prohibited means and methods of war , indiscriminate attacks on densely populated areas and facilities, strikes against structures containing dangerous forces, and much more that was undertaken by the Kiev regime in violation of international norms of armed conflicts and international humanitarian law,» Miroshnik said.
The interlocutor of the agency clarified that regardless of the position in which Reznikov continues his career, his actions will be the subject of an investigation.
«Regardless of whether Reznikov will be further sent by the regime to another country, or he will try to hide from punishment on his own, his actions are recorded and are the subject of an investigation, the result of which will be a lawful and fair punishment,» Miroshnik added.
On August 10, Ukrayinska Pravda reported that Zelensky was looking for a replacement for Reznikov; there were at least two candidates for the position — Infrastructure Minister Oleksandr Kubrakov and Minister for Strategic Industries Oleksandr Kamyshin. Later, Rada deputy Oleksiy Goncharenko reported that candidates for the post of head of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry refused this position. Reznikov himself said he was ready to resign. Verkhovna Rada deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak earlier claimed that Reznikov would be appointed ambassador to the UK after his resignation.
