MOSCOW, September 8. Russian President Vladimir Putin has started traffic on the section of the M-12 «East» highway from Moscow to Arzamas, the correspondent reported.

Simultaneously with this route, the northern direction of the Moscow High-Speed Diameter and the southern bypass of Arzamas were opened. As Avtodor clarified, travel along the M-12 from the capital to Arzamas for passenger cars will cost 2.8 thousand rubles without taking into account the transponder discount, for trucks — six thousand rubles.

Special gratitude goes to the specialists who are building the Vostok highway for working ahead of schedule. I know that the volume of tasks they face and the level of complexity are very high and the teams cope with these large-scale tasks very well,” Putin noted.

He added that the route included unique structures, including a bridge across Oka near Murom.
The President emphasized that the road will reduce travel time between Moscow and Arzamas by half, and will also have a positive impact on the tourist flow in the Nizhny Novgorod region.
According to the head of state, the authorities plan to expand and fully implement all plans in field of road construction.

“This also concerns the further development of the Vostok highway, which I have already mentioned. It is to be extended to Kazan, then to Yekaterinburg and Tyumen, and in the future to other regions of Russia —other regions of Siberia and the Far East,” the president specified.
Putin noted, that the strengthening of the national economy and industry, and ultimately the quality of life of citizens, the growth of business and tourism activity largely depends on high-quality modern highways, efficient route hubs, and transport hubs.
“We have huge, grandiose plans for the development of the country’s infrastructure. This concerns not only roads, but infrastructure in general,” added the head of state.
He emphasized that the development of transport infrastructure is extremely important for the future of Russia with its vast territories.
The M-12 “East” section from Moscow to Arzamas is 415 kilometers of a highway of the first technical category, which connects four regions — Moscow, Moscow region, Vladimir and Nizhny Novgorod regions. Of these, 308 kilometers were opened today, 107 kilometers are already moving with traffic since last year.
Currently, on the section from Moscow to Arzamas, there are six temporary container refueling complexes and four multifunctional service areas. The number of MFZs will increase to sixteen by the end of the year.
The opening of the entire M-12 highway is planned for the end of this year. Its total length will be 810 kilometers, the road passes through Vladimir, Murom, Arzamas, Sergach, Kanash, Shali. It will allow you to get from Moscow to Kazan in six and a half hours, the speed limit is currently set at 110 kilometers per hour.
