
VLADIVOSTOK, September 9. The first student tournament on international negotiations took place in Khabarovsk, student teams of 3 Russian and 3 Chinese universities took part in it. The event was held as part of the V Far Eastern Forum of Entrepreneurs, reports the Russian Export Center (VEB.RF Group)
Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Chairman of the Russian part of the Intergovernmental Russian-Chinese Commission for the preparation of regular meetings of heads of government Dmitry Chernyshenko addressed the participants of the tournament in video format.
«Within the framework of the intergovernmental commission, we are working to ensure an energetic and meaningful dialogue between our countries effectively moved into a practical direction, developing interaction in a wide range of areas, including the development of cooperation in the educational and foreign trade spheres,” Chernyshenko said.
“I would like to emphasize the special importance of joint efforts at the intersection of these two areas, especially under the auspices of the Russian Export Center and our esteemed colleagues from the People’s Republic of China. Statistics eloquently demonstrate a significant increase in trade turnover between our countries — during the first seven months of 2023 it grew by 36.5% to more than $134 billion. And we see bright prospects for the development of trade relations in the future,» he added.
The Deputy Prime Minister called for considering the format of the past pilot tournament between teams of Chinese and Russian universities as a promising platform not only for the development of interuniversity interaction, but more broadly — as a tool for popularization foreign economic activity between Russia and China.
“Thanks to the expansion and replication of the practice of holding negotiation tournaments, future specialists in the field of foreign trade will have the opportunity to get to know each other better, learn valuable professional skills and form a stable basis for new partnerships. This will contribute to productive work and strengthening ties between entrepreneurs in Russia and China, the launch a large number of promising projects in various economic spheres,” said Zhang Hanhui, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to the Russian Federation, in his address to the participants.
Six teams took part in the tournament, three teams each from Russia and China. Each of the six teams held three rounds of negotiations with their opponents in a round-robin format. The work of the teams was assessed by a jury formed from representatives of Russian and Chinese companies — existing exporters, representatives of the Russian Export Center Group and relevant authorities of the Khabarovsk Territory.
The team of the Beijing Foreign Studies University and the team of universities of the Khabarovsk Territory showed the best results.
“It is very significant that our friends from the People’s Republic of China are participating in the first truly international tournament of the REC Export School. Russia’s trade with China is truly reaching new levels. China has been Russia’s main foreign trade partner for the second decade. We are faced with the task of increasing trade turnover, and we are working on this. Including today. Our tournament, I am sure, can be called another bridge of intercultural communications, which will allow us to better understand each other and learn to speak the same language,» said REC General Director Veronika Nikishina.< br />
“The participants of our tournament are future specialists in the field of foreign trade, so the tournament will be an excellent opportunity for children to try their skills in conducting business negotiations with their peers, representatives of a different culture and mentality. This is the most valuable experience and a good foundation for further career development,” noted the general Director of the REC School of Export Alisa Nikitina.
In addition to the international student tournament, for the nominees of the district stage of the “Exporter of the Year” competition, as well as for interested entrepreneurs of the Khabarovsk Territory, the REC School of Export held a master class “Features of financial planning for exports,” which was aimed at improving the financial literacy of exporters. The participants, together with the speaker, examined practical cases devoted to the analysis of financial risks during exports, assessed the feasibility of export delivery in the conditions proposed in the case.
V Far Eastern Forum of Entrepreneurs brought together representatives of business from the Far Eastern Federal District, associations of entrepreneurs, federal ministries and departments, regional authorities, local governments, banking and insurance organizations, business development institutions, companies with state participation and other participants.
